Let’s count together! Forced to Quit is a collaborative database that needs to be filled in in English. You can register as many women as you can remember, but please use a new form for each. Hyperlinks (see the variables starting with “Evidence”) can be from different languages, but it must be possible to be automatically translated. If a video, it should contain captions. See the details of each field below:

NameInsert the full name of the woman you want to register. If the person has a nickname or an acronym (e.g., AOC for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), please include it in parentheses.

PhotoAttach the woman’s picture, preferably retrieved from their official website or social media.

Photo's source and photographer's name (if known)Type the name of the photographer or the website from which you retrieved the website.

Race and/or ethnicityType the woman’s self-declared racial or ethnic background. Type “Unknown” if you are not sure. Despite being a social construct, race and ethnicity have social implications and must be counted.

Geolocation of professional activity – Type the name of the city, state/province, or country where this woman developed her professional activities.

Current or recent job or activityChoose one of the following options:

Circumstances Why has this woman left (or is about to leave) public life? Please describe the circumstances of her quit shorty (max. 100 words).

Year of quitting or announcement of quitting Type the year using numbers (e.g., 2020, 2022, 2024).

Year of comebackype the year using numbers (e.g., 2020, 2022, 2024). This field only applies to women who temporarily left their public activities, meaning they eventually returned to politics, journalism, or activism. If this does not apply to the case you are registering, please delete the default year (2025) and leave it blank.

Evidence I – Social media personal accountInsert the hyperlinks (copy and paste the URL) for this woman’s social media posts where she declared the urge to step aside. This category is intended to gather content that the woman made firsthand declarations. Podcast interviews, for instance, fall into this category.

Evidence II – News media articlesInsert the hyperlinks (copy and paste the URL) for reliable news organizations’ articles. This category is intended to gather content that someone else reported (i.e., credible news sources in journalism and fact-checking, NGOs, and so on).

Evidence III – Scientific reportsInsert the hyperlinks (copy and paste the URL) of scientific content that someone else reported (e.g., papers, books, book chapters).
